Follow a few basic guidelines to care for and clean your AMC and the cookware will keep their brilliant, shiny finish for many years to come. More information is available in The AMC Book or the AMC Use & Care booklet.
| • |
Give new and repolished cookware an initial wash before cooking. |
| • |
Wash cookware in hot, soapy water with a soft sponge or brush. |
| • |
Never use the coarse side of a scourer on the polished outside of a unit - it will scratch the stainless steel. Gentle scrubbing on the inside could be used when really necessary. |
| • |
Rinse in clean, hot water and dry immediately with a soft cloth to prevent water marks. |
| • |
Never use strong chemicals like Jik, Domestos or Handy Andy in wash water or to soak units with as it could damage the stainless steel. |
| • |
Never use steelwool, steel brushes or hard scourers. |
| • |
Soak units as soon as possible after cooking to ease washing up. |
| • |
Use AMC Classic Cleaner or Chemico paste to remove stubborn stains, bits of burnt-on food or fattiness. Gently scrub with a soft sponge. |
| • |
Only use wooden and teflon utensils when cooking. Metal or ceramic utensils will scratch the stainless steel. |
| • |
Never store very salty or acidic foods in units. These could form small indentations in the stainless steel. |
| • |
Don’t expose the handles and lid knobs to excessively high temperatures as they will melt or become brittle. |
| • |
Take extra care that the flame doesn’t pass the diameter of the base when cooking on gas. The flame may melt the handles and discolour the stainless steel. |
| • |
Don’t use AMC cookware in the oven. |
AMC cookware is designed for waterless and fat-free cooking methods, with a base that perfectly retains and distributes the heat, so cooking on medium and lower temperatures is really all that is necessary. This will further prevent overheating the units and food from burning. You will only complicate the cleaning process unnecessarily (and waste a lot of time) if you need to scrub away burnt-on foods
